The SIW part in the application’s name is short for System Information for Windows; the Home Edition part is meant to indicate that the application is meant for home, non-commercial use. Developer Gabriel Topala offers the SIW Home Edition application for free to Windows users who want to learn more about their machine. This system information tool will gather and present a variety of software, hardware and network info.

The SIW Home Edition installation file weighs in at a mere 5.7Mb, so it should not take long for the download to complete. Installing the application on a Windows-powered machine, pretty much any edition you can think of, will also take little time. All you have to do is click through a straightforward setup wizard. Once the installation completes, you will be asked to check out a Read ME file that gives you a quick presentation of the application.

All the information gathered by SIW Home Edition is grouped in three main categories that are displayed in the left hand side of the application’s interface. Those three categories are Software, Hardware and Network. Click an entry from the list to the left and more info will be displayed in the pane to the right. Click System Summary from the Hardware category and you will be presented with a summary of your machine’s hardware components. At the top there are buttons for various functions SIW Home Edition can perform and a traditional File Menu.

Using SIW Home Edition is nothing more complicated than clicking through the entries in the Software, Hardware, and Network categories listed to the left on the application’s interface. From Software you can get an overview of your operating system, installed applications, shared DLLS, certificates, and more. From Hardware you can get info on your motherboard, CPU, memory, network adapters, and more. And from Network you can get info on your IP and MAC, open ports, and more.

On the application’s upper part there are buttons for viewing CPU and RAM usage, for viewing network traffic, for shutting down your machine, and more.

As mentioned above, SIW Home Edition is free for non-commercial use. This means you have all the time in the world to get accustomed to the application’s interface and better familiarize yourself with the functionality it has to offer. If you enjoy using the application, consider making a donation to support its development. If you’re going to use SIW for commercial purposes, you will have to get a license for one of several Pro versions.

Easily access a wealth of system information with the free and user-friendly application SIW Home Edition.

Pros

SIW Home Edition provides support for multiple languages and multiple Windows editions. Not even a novice will have any problems getting used with the simple interface. SIW Home Edition gathers and presents a wealth of system info, neatly organized in three categories: Software, Hardware, and Network. SIW Home Edition is free for non-commercial use (consider making a donation to support the application).

None that I could think of.
